IP brakelight flicker

Has anyone experienced having the IP brakelight flicker while under moderate acceleration? Heavier throttle produces more pronounced flickering and an obvious misfire that is very irregular. I have never been able to keep the plug wires securely attached to the plugs and have burned many on the driver's side. After 9 years this is getting tiresome. What are the best wires that can be bought for the 8.1L and will the wires stay attached? Also, will the wire ends come off along with the boots when the plugs are serviced?

IP brake light flicker? The first thing I would check is the modular connector on the parking brake mechanism. I have seen where those things work loose and maybe this is the source of the flicker.

I've put the scan guage on it recently and get no codes. Mysteriously the IP brake light begins to flicker under moderate acceleration. And there is a miss that becomes an intermittant backfire under heavier throttle. Kind of makes it difficult around Fancy Gap. I think I will be replacing exhaust donuts again.

Don't forget to check the brake fluid reservoir level. WAG

If you're experiencing a backfire under load, I might look at the spark plug wires. I've just been through that exercise and although I had Taylor Extreme wires, I managed to burn one out.

Brazel's RV Performance recently introduced a new spark wire product and I got a set. Of course I have not had the time to install mine since a number of things keep me from playing with my rig.

UltraPower Magnum GM 8.1L Spark Plug Wires

"For years customers with the Workhorse chassis and GM 8.1L engine have been plagued with burning spark plug wire boots. The UltraPower Magnum Spark Plug Wires are the next generation of spark plug wires and not only do they withstand the extreme heat but they offer better performance and are guaranteed to last for life.

The technology in these wires come straight from NASCAR and are not available on the open market. They are made out of a patented zero OHM, solid core stainless steel wire wrapped by silver plated copper conductor wire and are outfitted with an RFI eliminator collar that guarantees no interference with radios.

These wires must be installed with GM factory heat shields."

I'll be installing the Magnum wires and a set of AC 41-101 Iridium tipped plug & shields. I also have a new lower radiator shroud to install from "Full Timers".

I will also be installing an UltraPower fuel pressure gauge;

UltraPower Fuel Pressure Monitor For Workhorse

Why?

"Monitors Fuel Pressure; Warns the driver if the fuel pressure drops below safe operating range. Easy installation, Low cost preventative measure that could save you an engine failure one day!"

On tap for this writer is going to be the RVIA Exposition in Louisville, KY. I expect to arrive on Monday for the 3 day show. Be looking out for the iRV2 facebook page for IOS photos as I'll be putting up as many of those as possible as I'm walking around.

Feature stories will be seen in the Blogs on our portal page; www.iRV2.com.
