Line leak, transmission
Hi, I’m Rob and I’m new to this site. I have a 2002,Winnebago Adventurer with an 8.1 Workhorse. I recently have noticed a small leak in the transmission lines where they enter the cooler. Can anyone confirm that there are o rings inside the coupler that bolts together? It is sitting in my driveway and I don’t want to pull it apart if it can’t be fixed at home. Thanks in advance!

Rob - I’m going to PM you - I’ve got all the Workhorse shop manuals that I can email to you. You will find them invaluable for questions such as you’ve asked.

? Not all chassis manufacturers use the same type fittings - at least I don’t think they do. I know what is used for the cooler connections for our Chrysler Jeep is different than what’s on our Chevy/Workhorse designed chassis.
Although if your asking for a picture of the specific connection being mentioned . . . .

Likely not. There were none on mine when I replaced each trans line (1994 P series chassis). Use a couple of flare wrenches and work them back and forth a few times.

I have the bolted line on the 2001 Allegro31IA with Workhorse chassis. As there seems to not be a gasket, I suspect it contains an o-ring. I would chase down the specific o-ring as it may be a specially shaped o-ring, such as was found to be used in the crossover cooling line on the GM big block heads.

Thanks everyone. I finally got enough nerve to pull the coupler apart and there were 2 GM, flat aluminum/rubber seals in there that I picked up at an auto parts store nearby for$3.00 ea. Already to rock!
