Check for a loose ground wire or battery lead near headlight lamp socket.
Vibration has shaken something loose.

Most headlight circuits are protected by automatic circuit breakers that reset when everything cools down after being tripped. If the breaker tripped, your switch would appear inoperative until it automatically reset.

I'd look for something that increased the load enough to trip the breaker, maybe a wire rubbed raw and shorting to ground occasionally.

lights went out

the ckt breaker for the headlight is in the headlight switch if you cannot find any problem with wiring i would consider replacing the lght switch thinking that the breaker is weak lee

Thanks for the info !! In the switch, very cool to know that.
I check both battery cables including the battery ground.
I pulled the switch out and saw that the plug appeared to NOT be fully seated on the switch, I removed the plug and reinstalled it. We'll see
if it happens again.
Am I going to have to go to Fleetwood for that switch ??
If so I'll have to work a weeks worth of OT just to afford it !!
Thanks

My light switch is from GM. Look up "Headlight switch, GM", and you will find it. Inexpensive also. Also, careful replacing it because the studs holding it are only glued to plastic. Good luck

Gregg,

I had a similar siruation and found the connector at the back of the switch had come loose. Popped it back on and all was well.

Good luck, hope it's something simple,
Dave

I had the same issue with my first MH a Ford class C. I had replaced all the clearence lights from 1 bulb lights to 2 bulb lights and I think that may have put it over the switches rating. It took about 100 miles before the amp draw heated up the switch and tripped . Oh , the good part was it happened on a 2 lane mountain road in the fog towing the CJ on a trailer going to a 4-wheeling off road trip. It took the DW quite a while to get over that one. As a matter of fact it was 1988 and she still brings it up once in a while. Don't they ever forget anything?
