Is there any trick to inserting the oil dip stick on a 8.1. I manage to get back in but it's a nightmare.Gets stuck at the curve.

Rit,

I've found that by orienting the dipstick so that the section that shows the oil level at the end is horizontal makes it easier to re-insert it down that long tube.

If my stick hangs up, I pull it back a short distance and rotate it a quarter turn.

The thing to remember is that the dip stick flexes easily only in one direction. You might note the orientation of the handle before you pull it out and put it back in with the same orientation.

I hope your box builder didn't put an extra bend in the dip stick tube. A compound bend would not be good.

I get the orientation of the stick set, then feed the stick, using a rag on the descending end, to keep from buckleing while pushing from the handle. Just feed with your left hand at the mouth of the dipstick tube. Be careful when it is hot.

Thanks for all the suggestions on getting that stuborn sucker back in. Just changed the oil and filter and will try the some of the suggestions on my next check.
