That was probably me, I replaced my supersteer springs and damaged control arms a couple years ago now. The springs I had were the correct ones, the weight marking was still visible on them.

The supersteer spring instructions include the caveat "not responsible for cracked control arms". Coincidence? After I saw that and the attendant damage they caused, there is no way you're going to convince me these springs aren't pushing the OEM control arms past their design limits. When I went back to OEM grade springs and air bags, the ride improved. Perhaps some folks consider these springs a better alternative than dealing with the air bags, but now having had both configurations I'll take the stock springs and air bags all day long.

As another data point, my ball joints needed replacing but not because they were worn out, but the boots were disintegrating. The Moog cross referenced joints fit and work perfectly and are greaseable (OEM ones aren't).

Mark, I'm curious where the damage to the control arms actually was. Did you replace the arms with used parts? Were the original arms not repairable?

I just got off the phone with Roadmaster. I was planning on getting there heavy duty sway bar for the front end of my P-30 chassis. My question to the tech was how do I know if I have a wide body or not? He tells me to go to the manufacturer but they are out of business. Then he tells me to go to GM, Chances are they wont be able to tell me anything. So he goes ohh well.
Wouldn't you think that they would know what to look for being they are selling the sway bar!!!!!! I'm very disillusioned with the company's response.

Well, you can tell by the VIN but pretty sure the wide track did not come out until after 2001 in the workhorse line (never GM). For a 1990 chassis this is all GM and all narrow.

Yup, 100% of the Chevy P chassis were narrow.

Only Workhorse changed to the wide track

Kind of surprised that a Roadmaster tech/parts guy did not know that!

If your RV is a 1990 model, then you definitely do not have a wide track.

For others with this question:
If your front wheels line up with the inner duals, you have a narrow-track.
If your front wheels line up with the outer duals, you have a wide-track.

The above is mostly true for pre 2001 P32 chassis coaches, however when Workhorse stopped building the P32 chassis in 2006, they had some left over wide track front end assemblies, which were bought up by Brazels / Ultra RV and perhaps others and sold as a retrofit modification on the aftermarket. I don't know the exact number of of these excess wide track front tends, but I think it was on the order of a dozen or so, and sold for I think around $15,000 each. Therefore there is a SLIM chance of finding a pre 2001 P32 coach with wide track front end.

If there is any doubt of which front end you have a call to Brazell's "Ultra RV Parts" (advertiser on here) would clear any doubt up easily. They can usually answer most any other question you may have on a Workhorse chassis.

Aeronaut, the Tiger Trac product mentioned is actually a track bar (technically a Panhard bar). While improvements, stronger front coil springs, supersteer, sway bars, etc. etc. will still not eliminate the inherent looseness in a leaf spring solid axle suspension. Only a track bar will reduce or eliminate this condition.

Many folks on this forum are familiar with this company and have bought from them as well as received some sound advice from them, myself included.
This is where I bought my "Tiger Trac" kit from. A good quality kit that performed as well as it was claimed it would.
I did my own install on the "Tiger Trac" track bar. Pretty straight forward and the instructions were clear and well illustrated. If you do buy this kit, ask me about a couple tips I can pass along to you or for that matter this goes for anyone else who is going to use one of these kits or one similar to it.

I have a 2000 P32 that has the wide track front end and the build date on it is 01/00 so they were definitely available before 2001.

Likely it was one of the left over wide track front ends that were sold off in 2006 through Brazels, etc. that was retrofitted to your 2000 model coach.

Ok. Now I'm curious, what did they have to do to retrofit one of them. Mine does not wander at all, it just likes to get pushed around by semis passing but I put sumo springs on the back in place of the stop bumpers and that helped a lot. On a good road with no wind it will track straight down the road. How many 2000's have you seen with the narrow tracks?

Ed Gray; do you know if there is a way to check to see if my coach had the wide track from the factory?
