Park Brake Adjustment
2005 Workhorse P32 foot pedal park brake adjustment. I've adjusted the drum brake shoes properly, taken up all the slack in the in- line cable adjuster but still no engagement until nearly to the floor. Is there an adjustment at the pedal end, maybe a different slot for the ball end of the cable? cheers, vail

Sounds like your shoes are wore out.

no, as stated, the shoes are adjusted properly so that the slightest pull on the lever applies them to the drum. the cable has so much slack, it takes 4 clicks to take up the slack with no movement at the shoes. Thanks

Sometimes the outer cable will get kinked or stretched and make it somewhat "compressible".
Have someone step on the park brake pedal while you are under watching the cable tighten up. Look for any movement of the outer cable as pressure is applied. It shouldn't move.
Be sure to block the wheels to prevent getting your name in the news!

Ok. I ws uderstanding you had taken all the slack out of the cable but you used all the adjustment and still too much slack. Check and make sure the outer cable hasn't slipped in the holder on either end. With no driver door getting to the pedal part could be tough.

cool, thanks. I'm lucky as I do have a driver door and it's STILL hard to get to! :-)
The outer cable is intact on both ends and I've adjusted the 'in-line' adjuster all the way ( and yes, the correct way; I tried both) can the cable just stretch so much that it would create this issue? I can only imagine what a new cable would cost if they're even available!?!
