Parking Brake on 2008 W-24

I am sure that this problem is somewhere on the forum but I have not been able to find the answer to my question, so please bear with me.

The parking brake on our W 24 is very difficult to set/operate. I am 6 foot and 190 lbs. and I have a hard time getting the brake compressed so it set/clicks and locks. The throw is very hard to press down and very long as well. Sometimes I have to try 2-3-4 times before I can get the brake to set. And if I don't, then the slides won't go in or out.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please!!!
Thanks
The Toads

Hi to the Toads-----I am 5 ft 6 in ( with shoes ) and 165 lbs and I have to stand on it as well. I would like to borrow some of your power--ha ha. Seriously I do not have any to add for a solution. If you find something pls let me know.
