Replaced My 8.1 Vortec Water Pump Problems and Solutions

I learned a lot while changing out my water pump myself I thought I would share this journey.
Total cost $150.00
Used AC Delco 252-783
Took both old and new pumps apart to compare quality

Great video.

Were the new water pump gaskets the silicone o-ring type or the older flat paper style?

Did you drain the coolant through the bottom hose or just let it drain from pump removal?

Did the pump come out the bottom or from the top? (Thinking it has to come out the bottom.)

Keep up the good work. We need more videos like this to encourage people to work on there own Workhorse. It’s really not that hard.

Do you recall if the holes where the pump bolted on were blind holes? Was thinking about that last night and wondering if they weren't how do they seal the bolts. Thinking they were but wasn't sure.

Thanks for all the information, you are definitely blazing trails here for the rest of us. I crawled under last night and used a flashlight, everything looks OK for now but think I may do this prior to our big trips we have planned from east to west coast. It would probably be smart preventative maintenance.
