Greetings all,
During a recent trip to S. Lake Tahoe, I overheated my brakes and melted one of my front ABS sensors. I had my brakes inspected before I returned back to San Diego after being told by a local shop that my brakes were fine, just that i would not have ABS capbility. When I got home, I personally replaced both of the front ABS sensors since they appeared to be "plug and play. My ABS light still remains on when I crank it up. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the ABS light? I presume that if there is and the light comes back on after resetting, there would probably be another ABS issue to be looked at. Any ideas would be appreciated. 2003 Bounder on W22.

Had a similar problem. Was told to drive the motorhome above 30mph or was it 15mph and the system would reset itself. It worked. No ABS problems since. Yea. Happy Motoring, John

that's correct driving it for a short trip will send the abs fault code into history statis and turn the light off, it will fully clear from the module in about 40 or 50 drive cycles. as long as it does not reoccur. i would call and ask the local workhorse dealer to check and see if your is under a recall or service bulletin for this concern also if so, you can ask for reimbursment for the wheel speed sensor.

when I am in storage for a month the abs light comes up at start up each time I start the engine, maybe over 2 or 3 months of winter.
But the minute I pull it out of the parking place and before i have gone 25 feet the light is out until next winters storage.
I just don't worry about it. It is ok the rest of the time. I have felt them working on a panic stop so I believe them to be ok

Thinking that since there was no financial gain for them since they are in S. lake Tahoe and I am in San Diego, I called the shop that examined my brakes. They told me I needed a special "scanner" to reset the light. Thanx for the good tips, I'm going drive it for a while to see what happens. I know I can usually get good, straight scoop from my fellow Rv'ers.

Workhorse does have a recall for certain 03 models as some brakes were sticking, causing brake overheating and damage to the ABS sensor. Gee, sounds like my situation I thought. However, my chassis VIN was not affected.

Thanks again

I would think you would be able to clear the code from the obdII using a code scanner. Worth a try. Let us know.

jdsr,

Thanx for the reminder. Last week I read the entire 13 pages of a thread on that subject and decided it was my turn to chime in with nhtsa.
