While motoring across South Dakota yesterday my Service Engine light came on and almost immediately I saw a significant decrease in my computed mpg (1 - 1.5 mpg). I only have 11,000 miles on the rig so I racked my brain trying to determine what I had done that might cause this. The only thing different was I tried a tankful of gas with 10% Ethanol. I don't know if that did it or not but this morning I filled tank with regular 87 octane fuel and almost immediately my mpg went back up and I had more power. The light is still on.

The SES lamp will suggest that there is something wrong with an emission control device.

Let's hope that it clears itself. I have had SES lights clear themselves in the past. If the lamp persists just let me know where you are and I'll find a service center ahead of you.

DriVer, you were right. It was an oxygen sensor. Unfortunately my local Workhorse Service Center doesn't carry them in stock and it will take a week to get it from Workhorse.

Light did not come on, got some good 87 octane in Wyoming, and ran much better.

I've used the ethanol quite a bit while traveling in Iowa--outside of a slight drop in MPG--no noticeable effect.

I used a tankfull in Washington, lastSept.
No real problem, I try to stay away from the ethanol products.

Mike,

Thanks for the offer, but since Reliable already has the MH and has ordered the sensor I'll let them finish the job.

Now folks, that is what I call an authorized Workhorse Service Center and that is true customer service. Sure wish you guys were closer.
