If considering a newer/used front axle, research whether the wide track P front suspension used by Workhorse just after your coach was built would fit.

Suspect this is a "not going to work", but probably worth asking as it would improve handling.

So far the "pressing it out thing" doesn't seem an option. They tried pressing it out at Horton's truck repair, that didn't work. It would probably need to be heated up and pressed out, and even then ... because of the way they are made, once they drop the spindle in the heated knuckle and then it cools down, everything gets cast together and apparently there is no way to press it out afterwards, which Ive been told is the point of building it this way and casting it.

I search truck junkyards, and apparently my chassis is not heavy truck, its a medium ... but yes, you are right, I need to build a list of all the models on this frame, because many junkyards don't even know the names of the chassis, but only the makers of the vehicles. And I found RV salvage yard hard to find also ...

The P32 has independent front suspension. Just changing the front axle is not possible. So far as the wider front end it looks like Workhorse took a standard chassis and cut the ends off the crossmembers and adde in four inches or so and rewelded it together. Perhaps GM done this right from the factory, I can't say for sure. This is just to clarify to people that may not understand the P32 chassis. I have a 2000 and one of the first things I done when I got it in 2016 was to have the front wheel bearings checked and repacked. Good luck to the Op but I am thinking his only course of action is to be lucky enough to find one in a salvage yard. A good yard could find him one by the part number.

I have been reading this thread with interest. I may be off track here but maybe you are asking the wrong question(s) and asking them of the wrong person. Colaw Rv Salvage has 3 2001-2002 P32 chassis available for salvage. See HERE. I am almost certain the front suspension parts on the 2000-2002 are the same!

If Colaw has those chassis available for salvage they must have the parts you need. Perhaps you should ask for a "Right Hand Knuckle Assembly". Maybe you need to find the right person at Colaw to talk to! Find the person who knows parts instead of the person who types on the inventory computer!

Maybe you've already tried what I suggest but maybe not!

Thank you very much for the info ! I never search their website, I only. called them a few times, maybe you are right about not talking to the right guy. I will call again with this new information.

I called Ultra Rv and the guy told me that any workhorse P32 chassis on a motorhome between the years '96 to '05 should have the same knuckle/spindle assembly.

Cheers !

Step Vans and Tiltmasters, Chevrolet 3500, used P32 chassis. I would try locating a used spindle from a small truck salvage yard. Here are a couple I use to locate small truck parts. You might try them or even Ebay. Santa Clara Truck Wreckers, 408-727-2244; Navara Truck 408-294-0202. Have had good luck with them for quality

Hi!

I just found my part in Alberta.

I called Ultra RV and the guy referred me to one shop in Alberta, saying pretty much everything in the US has been pick up, but there seems to be a better success ratio with Canadian junkyards. The one I called is Badger Truck Parts, and for RV parts you want to talk to Andy.

The part that sucks is that they run for 1000$CAD used ... but want do you want to do ! In the US they go for like 1500$USD a piece.

Another thing that help me understand my chassis is the intro of this document :

https://www.oemys-performance.com/me...-alignment.pdf

So you learn from it that the P32 from a motorhome is not the same as a P32 from a van or a P30 from vans/trucks. It should really be called a Motorhome P Chassis, but people don't really know that. But knowing that the 5th-6th and 7th digits on the VIN for this chassis is P37 really helped me find matching chassis on marketplace by asking people for their VIN.

Hope this helps you !

Cheers !

In a WCC vin number the fifth position is code for chassis type. The “P” indicates it is a “forward control 4x2”. The sixth position is code for the series. A “3” or a “5” indicates it is a P32 series. IF it was a “6” it would have been a W-22 series. It is the “7” in the seventh position that indicates it is a “motor home chassis” as opposed to one of the other six body types.
The tenth position is code for the model year.

Wondering, are WH P32's really unicorns with no GM sourced/equivalent parts? It would seem that aside from the widening that happened during the WH tenure which is basically different control arms, that the lineage of most chassis parts could be traced to a base part in the GM lineup. WH didn't make enough trucks to justify a custom part like this spindle assembly, did they?

Thinking outside the box, would there be a refit option using a different contemporary spindle assembly? Perhaps requiring different ball joints, bearings/disc and calipers but it's hard to imagine scrapping a running vehicle for lack of such a basic component.

Spindle needed

Try Supersteer, they are in Grants Pass Oregon. Really nice people to do business with. I did some major upgrades to my P30 chassis and it really drives nice.

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine. After days of searching we found a used spindle at Badgers Trucks Parts in Alberta Canada. 877-460-5985 or 780-961-2522. The part was $1200 plus $400 express shipping since he was broke down while traveling. Hope this helps. Ron
