Apparently Workhorse is about ready to release their Stabil-Air kit. I have been talking to several people at Workhorse about the kits and they are looking at dealers that want to install it.

I have ordered the kit and have it scheduled to be installed on my 2004 W22 the week of May 16th.

I have been informed that reps from Workhorse and Detroit Steel may show up to see how the installation goes in the "field".

From what I have been told, there has only been one other installtion of the kit, and that person really likes it and feels that it is worth the cost.

I will take pictures during the installation and see if I can't get them posted here for every one to see. And, if your ever in the Iowa area look me up if you would like to take a test drive!!!

I'll try and keep everyone posted.

Erik

Here is what I got from a WCC rep.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">This is what I found out on the Air Ride Suspension kit offered from GVW Parts.

Part Number is W8002639 It is a four corner air bag system, comes with 4 air bags, 4-shocks,
4-parabolic springs w/aux spring. It is a computer controlled unit and has a feature to level the coach when
put in park or leveling can be controlled with manual operation.

Kit is made by Detroit Steel and Firestone CO.

Suggested price to customer is $5395.00 with a additional cost of 20 hours of labor to install. Currently our average service hourly rate is $82/hr, but that will vary dependent on the area of the country you are in. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

What is included in the Stabil-Air kit:

Front and rear suspensions (parabolic and air springs)

4 Koni tuned shocks (the new FSD version)

1 air handling package including Thomas air compressor, tank, fittings and line

1 Firestone Intelliride control system with Horizon levelingIntelliride Information

The only manual function on the control system is choosing to place the coach 1 " lower for egress or 1 inch higher for campground travel. The system automatically returns to design height above 45mph or release of emergency brake.

The Horizon leveling will allow the coach to be leveled without jacks up to 2º side to side and .7º for aft. This will help with all the Walmart parking lot stops and using your gas appliances.

Does that mean the much talked about "air ride like" suspension that was ballyhooed couple years ago at rallys aren't so "air ride like" after all?
