Total capacity of the engine coolant system?

Been loooking for a day or so now with limited luck - heard 4 gallons read 6 gallons on a thread but still no manufacturers hard data.

Looking for the specific manfacturers specification for the Exact engine coolant capacity. Assume the block is completly dry, all hoses are dry, heater core dry and the main radiator completely dry. Looked through several Workhorse chassis documents with no luck .....

2009 W16 w/8.1L Workhorse chassis

Hope someone can help out

I'm not sure there is an "exact" number for what you described. For one thing, the different coach builders provide the heater core and its hosing runs, so I doubt even GM or WCC would know the answer you seek. Sorry, Ed

Ed,

Sure appreciate the response

I asked Oemy's and got a response - He is wonderful to deal with
"Shipped from Workhorse the capacity is 23.5qts"
He says it's documented in the owners manual

I looked in my owners manual several times and have not yet been able to find it. Will take another look see later today

23.5qts > 5.875 gallons close fit to the approx 4 gallons that come out when doing a simple flush without a block drain or heater core drain

If you use a 50/50 blend right out of the gallon bottle, this might be a good way to just fill the system rather than adding a100% solution half-way and then filling the balance with water.

Fill the system to right below the rad cap. Flush out the recovery bottle and fill that to the cold mark.
