I have about 8K miles on my W20 chassis, and have serviced it as the manuals dictate. Lately, there seems to be a venting noise (like high pressure steam) thst happens when accelerating from a standing start. It seems to come on in 2nd and abruptly stop when the trans shifts into 4th. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this? It doesn't seem to cause any side effects now, but I'm worried about what it portends.

You may have the fuild overfilled. Are you following the fill level checking procedure outlined in your Allison manual??

Fluid level is right on. The only fluid that's been added is to fill the spin on filter when I changed it. Also has no leaks, no fluid on the ground. Does it both cold and hot.
