TranSynd

Where do you find TranSynd transmission fluid? Auto parts stores don't seem to carry it around here.

Any large commercial truck repair facility should have Transynd. Maybe even some truck stops. I'd call a nearby truck service shop and ask where you can get some.
I get mine from Inland Truck Parts, which are mainly in the mid states. I don't believe they're in Alabama.

Thanks. I guess we'll call around and ask. Are there other comparable brands?

Here's a link with a list of TES 295 certified fluids:
On-Highway Fluids
Don't let someone chime in here and tell you to use Amsoil because it's the greatest thing since buttered bread. It's not certified to be used in an Allison transmission.

Send a message via ICQ to Fred and Bonnie
This source sells by the gallon, if you are doing a routine change, 10 Qts. is about what you need.

You MAY not need to change it anyway. WCC filled your tranny with TranSynd, and if you visit the Allison Forum here on iRV2 you can read all about oil testing, which costs a LOT less than new oil. Testing can confirm if yours is still good.

JGLabs will sell you a prepaid mailer to get your sample tested. Results in days.......

We weren't going to change it. It just shows it isn't full, but not down to saying it's low. My husband was just going to add a little.

You found the Autran Syn 295™ at O'Reilly's? ? I think he looked there, but it may be before he had the list of approved ones.

What is everybody seeing price-wise?

I checked at a Allison dealer in Fresno today and it's $42.50 a gallon.

Last I bought (about two years ago) was $39 a gallon at a Pacific Power in the NW.

That's the price my husband was quoted from an Allison dealer a few minutes ago.

They also told him Dextron 6 is Chevrolet's version of TranSynd.
