UltraPower GM / Workhorse 8.1L Custom Tuning?

I had the Ultrarvproducts tuner (UPFORD - Ford V10 Ultra RV Tune) on my old RV. it was a 2012 with the Ford V10. Just bought a 2006 Itasca 38J on the W24 workhorse chassis and was wondering if anybody is using the UltraPower GM / Workhorse 8.1L Custom Tuning (ECM & TCM) on their coach?

I have a 2003 W20 Workhorse. It has the same engine as yours. However your Allison transmission is a heavier duty version than mine.

I think the UltraRV ECM and TCM tune was well worth the money. With the tunes the transmission stays in higher gears longer. The motorhome climbs mild grades without downshifting and generally runs quieter and is a more pleasant drive.

Last year, when we traded our Jayco Seneca 33ss (Duramax) for our current '04 Pace Arrow 37c (gas 8.1), I knew I would be down on pulling power, so the very first thing I bought was the ECM and TCM from "Ultra". I traded coaches in Salt lake City, so I had the opportunity to drive the OEM setup back to Colorado and see how she did on a couple of our mountain passes. O.K. but not great, and we were driving an "EMPTY" coach.
Never took a long trip with the OEM set up, so I don't have a real comparison.
All I can tell you is that the Ultra ECM /TCM units seem to make the coach drive much better, and this is after 2 trips to Florida and back, and pulling an 8K # car hauler all over the Colorado mountains.
I would highly recommend the ECM / TCM units for any 8.1 engine.
I also did Ultra's plugs and wires at the same time. So far, so good.

I've had this the Ultra setup on my 2004 for five years and have nothing but good things to say about them. I averaged 7.5 mpg on a 6000 mi west coast trip pulling a Jeep Liberty. I stay at 65 mph most times. I just put Banks headers on it this week so see how it does on our trip next week.

I had just the engine tune on our previous 1999 Trek with a 454. I liked this, so added the engine and transmission tune to our 2005 Trek with 8.1 and Allison 1000. Both engine and transmission perform better although there sometimes is a tendency to stay in a lower gear longer after cresting a grade. This might be operator influenced, or a function of the cruise control - even when turned off during a climb. Or even the calibration of the seat of my pants. That said, I'm very satisfied with the UltraRV ECM and TCM.

Had the Ultra Power TCM & ECM installed on my 8.1 last year. Notable difference in horsepower but the biggest improvement was to the shift pattern on the Allison 1000. Money well spent.

Mine is a 2006 so I don't think they make anything for the 2006 transmission after looking into it more.

That is correct. There is no Trans Tune for the 6 speed Allison. It doesn't really need it because it shifts up through the gears correctly already.
