View virtual dash board from drivers seat on 15 inch LCD monitor mounted from under the overhead cabinet. Laptop under dash connects to OBD2 via AutoTap interface and software. Also can toggle to Delorme GPS driven navigation display using a wireless trackball. When parked, becomes a workstation with keyboard on steering wheel.

Marty, Are you saying that you can get the command center information to display information while in operation on the overhead LCD display?

Driver,
I get real time readings as I drive of any parameter AutoTap reads from theOBD2 port. If thats what you mean by command center info- then yes.

Each parameter can be viewed as an analoge gage or digital readout in what ever units the parameter is stored as.

The LCD monitor I speak of is not the tv. It is a std VGA input type monitor, mirroring the laptop screen which is closed and out of sight under the dash.

Marty

That's makes for a pretty neat display. Can you get a clearer and larger photo to post so we can read each of the analog readouts and see which is which?

I like your idea of multi-tasking your laptop and storing it out of the way by use of a second display.

Thanks Dale.

Driver,

I wasn't able to figure out how to get the IP data.

Mainly trying to get additional READABLE gaging without hard wiring or plumbing. ie Temp infos, vacuum and oil pressure. Transmission oil temp wasn't one of the parameters available to the scanner. Maybe later years have that or maybe it is just a gonogo output function to turn on a light.
Oil pressure info is in the OBDll data base but units are in 0-5 volts and wasn't sure how to scale that yet.

Found the knock retard info interesting to watch under varying loads. Lots of stuff to explore.

Marty

What cable did you use to connect the OBDll to your laptop and where did you find it?

Sorry andy,

I intended to answer but just plum forgot.
oemtech got to it first . Thanks oemtech.

Since I have my laptop on the floor just under dash and forward of the doghouse cover, I routed 2 vga cables extensions and a long USB cable up behind windshield pillar trim and behind entertainment cabinets to the cabinet with the LCD hanging down. USB was for the GPS device stuck between roof and cabinet.

Thanks, Really like the looks of the gauges but I'll probably be sticking with an Aeroforce 11
scan gauge. Price.
