Bud, Call Larry's Auto Clinic here in Myrtle Beach and check to see if I am correct about the tax. The 1495.00 is supposed to be the out-the-door cost if you go with the complete "Upgrade" package.

The reason why all the parts are not being fitted at the time of the recall is not everyone needs all the parts and then some of those parts are collaterally damaged while others are aged due to wear and tear. For example a 2009 W series subject to the recall does not need all new brake parts other than calipers. An owner of a 2001 Workhorse subject to recall if no brake problems presented over the course of their ownership would indeed have wear and tear issues and getting an entirely new set of brakes for 1495.00 would seem to be a bargain.

If I'm mistaken on the tax, I apologize but that is what I understood it would be. The tax could be as much as $120 or more on a 1495.00 Invoice.

In reading these threads there appears to be a wide range of charges from service centers. I guess it is the nature of business that a few would take advantage of customers.
The bottom line is Bosch is footing the bill for this and Workhorse and its service centers are raking in the $ for a problem they denied existed.

I finally got the recall completed at Village rv in roseville. the complete package with rotors, calipers, seals, pads and flush came to $1460.77. Don,t know why and didn,t ask. Probably had to do with rounding labor cost or ease of computing bill. Just glad to get it behind me. My front rotors were cracked all the way thru and rear not quite as bad but cracked. All pads down. 58k miles. All in all despite having to pick rig up and bring it back twice for lack of parts I feel they treated me as fairly as they could. Good luck to all.- John

I got my recall done at Tom Schaeffer's in PA. They were advertising $1399 for the package, but I believe that was without tax. My front brakes were in good shape, but both rear rotors were cracked. I also had some other work done, but it was about $750 for the rear rotors, pads, seals, etc. Took it out this week and it worked great. It may take a little while for the paranoia to go away however.

The alls well sign was given on the first brake recall. Then just two or three years later we have the latest brake problems ( that wh and its amb's denied) and recalls. I wouldnt be to quick to jump on that bandwagon yet.

I'm sorry Mike, but that doesn't answer my question at all. You originally stated in your posts that the $1499 was out the door price. Now there are different prices being stated for the package i.e. $1399. and there are taxes applied or not.
This is a continuance of the Workhorse lack of uniform policies for the customers. I don't want to hear that Larry's in Myrtle Beach is not charging taxes, or Joe Shmo in Hoboken, is cutting the price.
What is the official Workhorse pricing on this package.
I paid my 7% tax on my bill, $100+ and I would like to know if Workhorse is eating the tax, or is the Service Center eating it?

Bud, Seems that whatever reply or post that I make is always open season on Driver.

What was offered by the respondent in the above post was his experience. He was charged "Less" than the going rate for the package out the door including taxes. Why should there be a price or tax control on that and who can dictate to the dealer that he can't charge less?

Larry has charged 1499.00 for brake jobs out the door. Please allow me to assure you that Larry IS collecting taxes and those are a part of the 1499.00 price. Nobody is eating taxes.

I just don't know where you are coming up with the point you are trying to make about who is eating taxes. In my experience that's not happening. If a dealer is participating in the "Select Service Center" (SSC) program, they are supposed to be charging 1499.00 out the door which includes applicable taxes. Some states will charge less some will charge more for tax but it is not part of the plan to charge the customers any more that 1499.00 IF they are a SSC. I can't make it any simpler than that.

If you were over charged after you reportedly have told us that your happy with the price you paid and the service you received then you need to take that up with the dealer. The Workhorse position is clear, there is a program in place the price has been established and that's what is expected that dealers will charge the customers.

There is no over/under charge police monitoring what is being individually charged by the centers whether they are charging more or less. IF a service center IS NOT a SSC they will probably charge you whatever they can get however that said they are only getting dribbles in parts and are probably making appointments weeks or months out. If they buy retail parts individually they might charge more. SSCs on the other hand are buying parts for 20 coaches at a time so they have an incentive to hold the line on pricing especially if Workhorse is offering discounts on quantity and shipping.

You can go the local grocery store and buy the same item for more money than you can at Costo or Sam Club. The economy works the same whether it's a small consumer item of a large consumer item. The manufacturer of the item has no more control of end user pricing which is totally dependent on quantity purchased. That's what makes us a free trade society and not a socialist nation where they do have concrete price controls.

Winnebago can buy 1 chassis for X dollars whereas if they buy 25 they will get a better price break - it's the same thing with the SSCs when they buy parts by the palette. Let me assure you they are collecting taxes and I expect that those collections are being turned over to the appropriate DORS or they would not be in business for very long.

If you are not satisfied with the answers you are getting why dont you contact Workhorse yourself ???
www.workhorse.com Look under "contact us" or or FAQ and you can submit any questions you have. Then you wont be getting second or third hand information that you don't believe anyway.

C'mon Mike, I'm not attacking you, I am trying to ascertain if this is the policy of Workhorse or the individual Select service centers. This is your statement. You also told me to call Larry's to verify if this is the policy. I thought if I had a legitimate question that this would be the site to ask, and especially this thread.
As far as I am concerned the issue is dead, I fixed my brakes and paid my applicable taxes.
