I've checked with all the local DIY auto parts stores and their systems want to supply the incorrect radiator cap for the 8.1L (2001); (using the Chevrolet 2500 or 3500HD series trucks).
I just noticed the cap I have has printed upon it: TVS RC33. It is 15LB which the trucks use but it's more of the traditional type cap with the arrows for overflow tank alignment.

Has anyone found a source for this cap?

If you go to a WCC service center they can get you a radiator cap.

Napa was my last retail resort and they tried to give me the same cap as the others. I'll try my preferred WH SVC center tomorrow.

I got mine at the local Chevrolet dealer. The only difference is that the new cap has "ears" on it which the original did not.

Take your old cap with you for a sample.

You can't use Chevy pick-up truck data for non-engine parts - your Workhorse is not a Chevy! Cooling system, a/c, alternators and such are all different on a Workhorse chassis.

Unfortunately, none of the auto parts stores have reference data for the Workhorse Chassis, Neither do Chevrolet dealers. If you can't get to a WCC dealer for parts, it's pretty much a case of getting a helpful parts counter guy to try to match up your existing part by measurement & eyeball. NAPA stores usually have detailed specs on common parts, so they can look up a parts with similar specs to what you have.

I found the replacement radiator cap: WH SVC center (Chevrolet Dealer), ACDelco# RC27, GM# 10409635. The new design for the 2001 has the ears to facilitate installation and removal plus a new label with directional arrows to line up with the overflow tube. $12.65+tax

Two gallons of DexCool, new cap, 30 minutes: my cooling system is good for another 5 years or 150,000 miles.
