Where to have Banks Headers installed

Does anyone know of a shop in the Kansas City area where I can get a set of Banks Headers installed on my 2003 Winnebago w/8.1 engine?
Iíve called most of the RV centers and a few exhaust/muffler shops including one that does motorhomes but they all said NO to ether the headers or to even working on the stock exhaust manifolds. All of the exhaust places just do from pipes and mufflers. Wonít touch the exhaust manifolds.

I went to a small local muffler shop, and they did my Ford.

You will need to find a garage, most muffler shops dont want to deal with broken manifold studs and are not equipped

Look around for independent mechanics. Either use Google, or see if there are business cards at local auto parts stores. I was lucky enough to find a guy renting space in a sports car shop owned by a friend. When introduced, I asked "do you ever work on motorhomes?". He did, and installed my banks headers on our previous Safari Trek including dealing with broken & frozen studs. Earlier, a friend mentioned that installation labor would likely be around the same cost as the headers cost, and he was right ... but it was worth the cost for a job very well done.

Ended up taking it to Nextran GMC (used to be Westfall GMC). Theyíre the Kansas City area heavy duty GM dealer and have always worked on motorhomes. Since theyíre a GMC dealer and not an independent place per say, they donít install aftermarket parts. I had a small exhaust leak to start with so I had them remove both exhaust manifolds, install all new studs, bolts, gaskets, heat shields, etcÖ. They also had to replace the lower section of the dipstick tube. I ended up having 6 broken studs. Total price with labor, new parts and tax was just under $3,400. Price to check it out was $125, labor was $1,615 plus an extra $95 X 6 for each broken stud so total labor was $2,310. The new parts came to $856 w/tax and then $225 for shop supplies. (What ever shop supplies were. I think itís just another bogus charge).

Going into this I probably could have done this myself but would have had to work outside on gravel but under open cover where I store the motorhome. I figured it would cost at least $2,000 labor but didnít take into account the extra new parts ($865) that they had to put on that Iím just going to take off when I install the Banks Header kit myself. I figure it wonít be too hard as theyíve already taken care of the broken studs and everything is new so it all should just come back off easy. So altogether Iíll have around $4,850 once Iím done installing the headers.
