Wiper motor Outlaw 2008

Hi Guys----I have a 2008 Outlaw with 8.1 Workhorse Chassis----on the way home last week in a rain storm the wiper motor stopped---of course in a storm on interstate 75-----anyway I got out and found motor extremely hot----removed passenger wiper assembly and motor worked fine. The motor is only the size of a beer can----has anyone upgraded their wiper motor? I already reduced the size of blades from 30 to 28.

Any advice would be great

I had a similar/same problem on my Outlaw. Wipers began working intermittently, stopped and restarted during a downpour in I-5 at night. Turns out the wiper motor was shorting out against the moving wiper arm bracket under the hood. The dealer corrected the problem and replaced the motor. No problems sense. I too reduced the length of my blades.

I also had a problem with the wiper motor shorting out in the rain.
I placed silicon on the contacts. I also placed a rubber auto strip across the top of the motor hood. No problems since then.

Like many things, Damon/Thor sourced the wipers from a 3rd party's not a Workhorse part.

I can't find it in my owners manual, so I would write or call Thor.

They should be able to tell you the supplier or offer the part at a Thor authorized dealer/service center.

Best luck and please post your results in the Outlaw Mods and Easy Fixes thread

The wiper motor and assembly is propably a Wexco. Are you sure its the motor? The nut on my motor backed off and was allowing the actuator to slip. JM2¢...

Do they make the motors that don't shut off after it stops raining? I'm still dealing with that .I put a switch in to kill the power to the motor , but still ticked of about that.
