dnebout, what state are you in? How long since the engine oil was changed? Time as well as miles. You may just be borderline high on hydrocarbons because of dirty contaminated engine oil.
I would put in fresh gasoline, and change engine oil if necessary. This is assuming the plugs and wires are in good order.

Oil has 1000 miles and 6 months on it. Plugs and wires are stock. 20,000 miles on the coach
Gas is 3 months old.

Start by changing the oil, filling the gas tank and then take it out for a drive of at least 1/2 hour (make sure its up to FULL operating temperature), then have it smogged.

I've seen cars/trucks that failed pretty badly that followed this and then passed.

I don't know if its the same for MH's as it is for Cars, but federal mandate is a 5 year/50,000 mile "warranty" on emission related components.

What is the difference between the PCM and ECM....the P & E. It's nomenclature... PCM = Power Control Module and ECM = Engine Control Module. Go to my web site and there is a tech note on how to R&R your ECM in the downloads section.

Perhaps a good long drive and fresh gas may be all thats needed. Have fuel pressure checked. Too high too rich?

Yes, you have a emission control warranty, I would stop playing around and set-up an appointment with a Workhorse Service Center, let them figure out what is wrong. It's their responsibility

Emptied out 25 gallons of old gas/ methanol. Tomorrow I'll put in fresh 87 octane, drive it 10 miles and try again. If this doesn't work, it's going into the shop under emission control warranty.
I'll keep you all posted.

Don't forget the oil change! Hydrocarbon emissions are unburned particles from incomplete combustion. They linger in the crankcase of engines that have lots of cold starts, and short drives that never gets the engine up to temperature. With engine oil that is 6 months old, and only 1000 miles on it, I would definitly recommend a oil change before smog certification attempt.

Go more than 10 miles, you want the engine fully up to temperature...10 miles isn't far enough, you need the engine to be running for around 1/2 hour...really, it makes a BIG difference.

And as Dieselclacker says, change the oil...

Still haven't had a chance to try the smog check again. maybe mid week. Too much work and not enough time to finish my hobbies.
