Union City, IN -- Workhorse Custom Chassis LLC celebrated a milestone Wednesday (June 1), rolling the 100,000th Class A gasoline motorhome chassis off the assembly line at the company's manufacturing plant in Union City, Ind.
According to a report in the Indianapolis Star, the 100,000th chassis will be delivered to Winnebago Industries Inc., Forest City, Iowa, which was represented at Wednesday's ceremony by Ryan Helgeson, district sales manager. The completed motorhome will then be shipped for retail sale to Lazydays RV SuperCenter in Seffner, Fla.
"This is a mark that's come very quickly since we didn't exist eight years ago," said Workhorse President Dave Olsen.
Olsen said Indiana's strong RV presence encouraged Workhorse to base operations in Union Center in 1999 after the company purchased the P-Series chassis from General Motors.
"It's close to our customers, and we got a lot of state and local government grants and incentives that were very helpful," Olsen said.
The company recently announced that the P-Series will be discontinued in July and replaced by two new smaller GVWR W-Series chassis.
Olsen said Workhorse employs about 400 people in Union City – the number of jobs the company promised when it located on the Indiana-Ohio state line, east of Indianapolis. He attributed the company's success to a simple business formula.
"Stay close to your customers, especially as the market changes," he said. "Listen to them, and turn their questions and suggestions into a product. Have the ability to respond to the customer."

I wonder how Ford likes this post they sure had the market to themselves until Workhorse showed up. Workhorse is still keeping a couple of steps ahead of Ford into the near future, an I use to be a Ford man --"007"

I'd like to get the W-24 with the KS 3740 but they only still use the W-22, if I add in the bucks they might consider it. Didn't drive the WH knew it must be different than all the Fords I had. ---"007"

007, for what it's worth, I have already sent emails to WCC and Newmar telling them I would order a new coach immediately if they would build the 3740 on a W-24. I'm hoping for a positive responce. Then I thought, well shoot, might as well ask for that W-24 to come from WCC already equiped with the Stabil-Air suspension, and TGB. I'm sure IT would be the last coach i would need to buy. ED
