Workhorse Oil Pan
I have a 2007 Allegro Bay on the W24 chassis. The oil pan is weeping. No it is not the gasket, it is only on the bottom of the pan, not the sides. I ordered a new oil pan but it is a stamped pan, not the cast like the one that is on there right now.
Will there be a problem using the stamped sheet metal rather than the cast type?

The only down side to the stamped pan , could be slightly elevated engine oil temperature.
If the cast pan is no longer available ; issues with porous castings is probably the reason .

I suggest to use a fiberglass kit to patch the leaking crack. Drain the oil, clean real good, let set a couple of days, then clean again and repeat until it stops weeping and oil residue. 3 or 4 layers of fiberglass should be good to go.
Good luck,
Bill

JB Weld will last longer than fiberglass.

I recognize that name. I used your video to remove the basement air on my Winnebago. It was a great help and cleaning the unit thoroughly really helped. I did have a friend to help me.
I think rather than removing the pan, since there is no obvious crack, I am going to try an external repair that sprays on. I will totally clean first.

I once did a campsite oil pump replacement by cutting an opening in the oil pan.
Long story but to make it short I fiberglassed over the bottom of the pan after filling drilled holes at corners and the saw kerf with thickened resin mix.
The patch held for a few months but when nightbtime temps dropped in the fall the temp range started to break the bond of the fiberglass patch.
If you have a casting flaw I would consider other approaches...
Best - find someone that can weld the hole
Lesser options - drill a hole and force in some JB Weld. I think the material pushed into the hole will mushroom over and hold the plug in place. Better than a surface patch.
Other - drill & tap and insert a short pan head bolt maybe adding a gasket or JB Weld under the head. If you counter sink the cavity will form a well for the sealant to formbaxsealnaround the threadsvand under the head.

A lot of American V-8's used stamped steel oil pans successfully for many years. I would have no qualms at all about switching. Just be careful not to overtighten the bolts during the install, as that could distort the pan slightly allowing leakage at the gasket.
