I think that a couple of soon-to-be rebuilt ones are available.

Gramps;

That will be a good thing. In researching, have found that there are people out there in the business of module repair.

What I would like to know is who has the Cadet software program for the R26 chassis? Is it Megatech, who was bought by Teleflex who spun the business off to Kornsberg who ultimately got out the module business. Therin lies the problem from my uneducated point of view. The module is totally rebuildable as most of the components would be replaceable. However, if it is the computer chip (do not know what type) then it may be replaceable but needs a resident program. Who has that program in their possession?

Guess the demise of the best gas chassis ever built will be an AirBNB residential facility sitting in a driveway or RV park somewhere. Shame on Navistar for not providing options to the owners of the chassis for getting the module rebuild done. Someone obviously has the expertise to do it, they just need the tools.

Best Regards

UPDATE: Workhorse UFO R26 rear chassis control module

God bless Jon Brazel at UltraRV. He contacted me by email and said that even though website says part discontinued, he would look in his warehouse because he thought he had one,. He found it and was going to send it out for programming. Then he sent me the following emails:

1. "Sorry for the delay, they are having trouble figuring out if they can update the unit to work with your current cooling system. The original rear CCM that the UFO came with did not control the fan clutch, it was just a viscous type. They had a recall and replaced the fan clutch, water pump and the rear CCM. The CCM that we have is an original type and what we are thinking is that it was more than just a software update when that recall was performed, as they would have just had us program the rear CCM instead of replace it. So long story short, we are not sure that this one will work on your vehicle properly and that is what we are trying to find out. Unfortunately, all the people that were involved with Workhorse that knew anything about these are no longer around. If we can't get any solid answers, your options will be tp just go ahead and try it and hope that it works or continue your search for one that has the updated rear CCM part #."

2. "After investigating further, we believe that the front CCM is the only module that actually needs to be programmed. The rear CCM changed part #'s over time but it doesn't seem that it actually was replaced when the recall was performed, just the front was. That being said, I do believe that this unit will work for your vehicle. The last new available part # for this module was W0011172 and was $2309.46. We are willing to sell this one to you for $1500, if you want to proceed."

We are going to give it a whirl, since it will be two weeks before we know if Hutton Chevrolet's people can provide one. So we may end up with 2, 1 or none of them working. The lead on Flagship One went nowhere ... they only do ECMs and PCMs, but not CCMs.

Lash, I know that Larry's Auto has the cadet/toolbox software. They are in Myrtle Beach SC. Justin, who works there, is most likely the best UFO tech on this side of the States.

We just heard YESTERDAY that our repaired RCCM had been returned and installed. Mechanic says RV started and they had driven it around the parking lot. However, they are still trying to pinpoint "what caused it" and some electrical "details" they are still working on. No sure what that means technically.

Thanks for responding so quickly and that is good news. In getting closure on this, do you know where the module was sent for repair. There seem to be few shops that can repair chassis control modules or are willing to. It may come in handy someday in case this pops up again.

Best Regards,

Lash

Sounds like they have the situation in hand, making sure that something external to the CCM, did not cause the failure as opposed to an internal problem with the old CCM.

Only 4 1/2 months and $5800 later, Chuck Hutton Chevrolet (Memphis TN) has finally finished repairs on our 2008 Itasca Latitude. With the part I found through Jon Brazel of UltraRV. (He's still my hero.)

As someone else on this thread said, I think Hutton threw parts at it in a desperate attempt to figure out what the problem was. Three new batteries (2 were less than 2 years old), then the PCM (I don't know, would it work if the RCCM was bad?). So, lousy communication with us; poor diagnostic skills; lack of urgency on their part. We paid hours of labor for them to learn how to do their job.

The original RCCM they removed from our rig was sent to G7 Computers for repair.
Address: 101 Leicester St, Canandaigua, NY 14424

Hours: Closed ⋅ Opens 8AM Mon

Phone: (585) 678-5179

It came back with one pin not firing (said pin not specifically identified by Hutton; yet another two weeks lost). That was when we reminded Hutton that we had a new original part (thanks again, Jon Brazel) and rather than wait for another 3 weeks while they sent our part back to G&, please use ours. Don't know if G7 guaranteed the part or not. Hutton gave us this "repaired" part, minus the "lid"; allegedly not charged for that "repair".

We are on the road home, two nights in. Praying we make it back to Ohio. Oh, and now the big slide won't go out. Had about all the fun we can handle this winter.
