I drove 200 miles the other day and barely heard the hissing. When I was driving around the camp ground I could hear it a bit but was using the brake more frequently.

Hydraulic brake warning is normal on starup....pressure builds up in the HCU pump and then the warning goes away and is replaced by the auto park on warning, which goes away after the coach is put into gear and yellow knob is pushed.

Thanks Gramps,

I will watch out for other alerts.

The truck place told me they completely drained the system.

What did they charge for the brake fluid change? I have been quoted $400 here.

Looked at the invoice. 340$ for the brake flush.

So my $400 quote may not be out of line. MH shop rate here is $165

165$ yikes that's crazy.

The shop I use has worked on my f53 for two years and there even was a Newmar Dutchstar waiting to go up on a ramp.

They had never worked on a UFO before, when I went over at lunch today the service manager was showing other mechanics the UFO.

Ultra Rv had told me the shocks and stabiliser was a 4-5 hour job so what they charged overall was reasonable.

Its still coming up with the Brake Fail alert intermittently. I have used the physical chassis battery disconnect today and see what it displays tomorrow.

That is one of the symptoms of a possible HCU failure coming. When it happened to my coach, I could stop, shut off the engine, start it again and the failure would clear for quite awhile, until one time, on the way to the shop, it would not come out of auto park when I restarted the engine. Had to get it towed and the HCU replaced along with new brake fluid. That was some years ago and I have had not had an issue like that since. I did have to replace the fuel pump a couple years ago.

Hi Gramps,

What cost was it to replace the HCU?

I must check to see if my service plans covers it?

Depends, I think it cost me about 2700 bucks including the tow charges. The HCU unit part was covered by Workhorse. I paid for labor and such. I got it done at Terry Labonte RV service in Greensboro NC, great place to have UFOs worked on or at Larry's Auto in Myrtle Beach SC. Larry knows the UFO better than anyone else on the east coast I think. Current pricing may be more.
