Hard to say, there may be a fix that was not going to work in my case. I had no pressure to the front brakes at all, only to the rear. And yes it was big bucks, but a 90 mile tow ain't cheap at ten bucks a mile. I had no roadside assistance that would tow that far.

I replaced mine by myself and this was the price:
HCU $4000
ToolBox Software $300
Cables for the ToolBox software $700

The local shop wanted $1400 to change it.

Thanks Gramps and Old Skool,

So had you both changed the brake fluid before that? Also did you have the same alerts?
I was getting a brake system fail again today?

This is only my opinion (No Facts), I think the valves in the HCU are sticking causing the alarms to go off (remember no facts). The valves are sticking because the old brake fluid was dirty or has moisture in the fluid (IMO), even with the new brake fluid change the dirt is still there.

My HCU History: (Short) My brakes locked up, I released the SAHR and then reconnected it and my brakes worked (no Alarms), I bought a new HCU, installed it but it was defective, reinstalled the old HCU after flushing it with over 5 32oz bottles of brake fluid using the ToolBox software to drain the HCU over 10 times. When you do this all fluid is flushed through the valves. I think after doing this it cleaned the valves. Maybe??? My old HCU worked great after all this, but I still installed a new one and I keep the old one as a spare.

ToolBox Software: It allows you to open and drain each valve in the HCU, I think doing this pushes brake fluid through the valves cleaning the dirt out.

Hi Old Skool,

I will have a chat with Ultra Rv and see what they say about the sticking valves.

Do you use the ODB 2 port for the software?

I did not change my brake fluid before the HCU failed.

The ToolBox Port is under the dash on the left side.

Brake fluid change is recommended every 2 years.

So you connected your scan gauge to the toolbox port? You must have used an adaptor? It seems to work ok, all your Ultra Gauge stuff reports correctly?

Ive wondered if this was possible. This is good news.

Do you remember what adaptor you got to hook the SG into the toolbox port?

Thanks.

I spoke to John at Ultra RV, he said to find an OTR truck shop that has the Wabco software toolkit and interface

I drove the coach 300 miles over the weekend with no issues at all.

Today I started the coach and got the below errors which I have not seen before, also the ABS warning light came on. I

Check ABS.
ABS Comms Failure.
No CCM ABS Comm.

I need to find a ahop that can work on Wabco brakes to diagnose.
