Workhorse UFO Foibles
Hi,
Two months in to owning an Itasca UFO. After 1000 miles love the drive and handling but twice have had trouble with the Merritor-Wabco braking system.
Once the HCU is replaced is there any other foibles with the UFO chassis?
Thanks,

The only issue I've had is the HCU. After I replaced the HCU, I now check the brake fluid for moisture every 6 months and change the brake fluid every 2 years. Its been 16 months since I replaced the HCU (no issues). My next major maintenance will be changing the bypass hose and radiator hoses, my chaise was built in 2007 so the hoses are 11 years old (38,000 miles). I bought new hoses from UltraRV, but I've checked the current hoses and they look and feel as good as the new ones. I'll change them next summer....
Maintenance Conducted as of 7/7/2018:
New Spark Plugs and Wires (Mar 2016)
Serp-Belt (Feb 2016)
Belt Tensioner (June 2018)
Idler Pulley (June 2018)
Radiator Cap (Mar 2016)
Radiator Fluid (June 2017)
Brake Fluid (Jan 2017)
Air filter (June 2018)
Cleaned MAF (Every 6 Months)
Cleaned Throttle Body (June 2018, it was very dirty)
New Fan Clutch (May 2016, Old one still good)
Greased all Joints and fittings (Jan 2018)
New Brake Pads (Feb 2016, dealer installed)
New Batteries (Feb 2016, dealer installed)
I use the GM Tech II scanner (Clone) to monitor the engine and transmission, all readings are within (Book) requirements.

Thanks Old Skool,
I had the brake fluid changed about 2 months ago and had service and lube job.
Does the Tech 2 Scanner connext to the ODB2 port or the propietary one? Is this the same as the Wabco tool kit?
My parking brake has locked up twice in the last month, 1st time it was a loose wire, yesterday the mechanic hooked up his laptop and said it was a power issue. He is working with Wabco on it.

The Tech II connects to the ODB2 port and ToolBox connects to the Round port. Tech II is for the Engine and the ToolBox is for the Brakes.

I forgot, did you check to see if the recalls were completed? The FCA recall is a UFO issue.
After 75000 plus miles, I just had my first real UFO related problem. My parking brake won't engage, the problem I have seen on here is the parking brake won't release.
I forgot the problem with my trans cooler lines having to be replaced, a UFO issue due to the rear engine.
2 AC compressors and the harmonic balancer "failure" are related to the 8.1 so not a UFO issue.

Hi UFO,
Ed checked for me and all recalls had been performed.
Thats odd your parking brake would not engage.

Yes, I have the ToolBox. I bought it to install the new HCU in Jan 2017, I keep it in the RV along with the TECH II Scanner.

Thanks Old Skool,
The Toolbox kit is both the software and the cable?
