Sure would like to hear from anyone that has solved this dilemma. I can't believe that they designed that cable to run about 1.5" away from the exhaust manifold.
From what I have been able to find out, the correct Pt# seems to be,
1C3Z-7E395-AA.... and it has been discontinued for some time.
I'm wondering if the 5-speed cable (4U9Z-7E395-AA) might work. The cable doesn't know how many gears it's shifting. It just depends on the cable ends fitting. I'm assuming the length is the same.

A quick follow-up that may (or may not) help someone in the future:
For what it's worth, I was able to repair my Shift Cable 1C3Z-7E395-AA.
As stated, that cable is long since discontinued and I couldn't find anyone that could fabricate a new cable.
My cable had the plastic casing melted off from the hot exhaust manifold. I was fortunate enough that the lengthways steel reinforcement was intact and the inner push/pull cable (the one that moves and does the actual work) was also intact. The reason that the shifter stopped working was because the push/pull cable was no longer encapsulated by the plastic sheaving and would just bulge out between the steel reinforcing strands, instead of moving the shift lever on the transmission.
To resolve the issue, I found some hard plastic 1/4" I.D. tubing and slit it lengthwise with a razor blade. I dowsed the push/pull cable and the inside of the new tubing with dry graphite lubricant and slip the old assembly inside the new plastic tube, through the slit. I then installed 20, S/S mini-clamps over the new plastic tubing so that the inner push/pull cable could not exit through the slit in the new tubing. I probably could have achieved the same result by wrapping the tubing with S/S wire and clamping it at each end but I had the clamps and I didn't have the wire....
I them wrapped the effected part of the cable with fireproof heat insulated shielding and reinstalled. It works perfectly (for now).
