so does the generator charge the batteries.

I also have a 91 Pace, just on the Chevy Frame. The two coach batteries are charged when driving, from the generator and from shore power. If from the generator and shore power, the inverter/charger does the work.

The two coach batteries are charged in any one of three ways. Engine alternator, shore power and generator. The chassis battery is only charged by the alternator.
