1994 Ford F53 Fuse/Transmission/PSOM Question

Hello from new member Ken. I have been searching the web for solutions to a transmission issue that I am experiencing. Sometimes my transmission experiences shifting issues. What I mean is that sometimes it seems to feel like the transmission is slipping and sometimes it feels like it kicks down a gear. This was happening at various distances and I can not put my finger on anything repeatable. Here is what I know:

Speedometer working- Experienced these issues.
Speedometer now does not work- Experienced these issues.
Changed the VSS- Still Experiencing these issues.

I have read about changing fuses 8 and 18.
I have read about the PSOM causing this issue.

I cannot locate my fuse box inside under the drivers console to even check the fuses.

A couple of questions: Can someone tell me/show me where the inside fuse block is located? Can someone comment about the likely hood of the PSOM causing my transmission issues. I do not care about speedometer. Lastly if it is the PSOM please provide guidance as to how to have fixed or purchase new.

Thank you in advance Ken

The PSOM has nothing to do with the Transmission at all in a 1994 F53.
The PSOM in the 1994 F53 does not send out any information.
So fuse 8 or 18 would not cause your Transmission problem.
If the VSS signal from the VSS is shorted by the PSOM it may cause it but very unlikely.

You may have a bad VSS drive gear.

VSS Drive

The guy that changed this for me confirmed the drive gear was OK when he changed it.

Also fluid and filter in transmission was changed.

Thank you all. Please keep the ideas coming.

Note when I said drive gear I was not talking about the driven gear on the VSS that comes out with it.
The drive gear is inside and can melt if the unit gets hot enough.

You may also have a bad TR sensor on the drivers side of the transmission.
Also check your shift cable between the transmission and the steering column.

By the way the PSOM is powered by Fuse #4 and #5. Not fuse #8 and #18 as fuse #18's slot is not even used.
The inside Fuse panel is located near the drivers left foot.

Ken, After I had my transmission rebuilt I had similar shifting issues. Sometimes it would seem to go into neutral instead of another gear. I tracked it down to an out of adjustment MLPS by 3/16". Shifts good now. Yours could have been loose or moved inadvertently by someone bumping out of position while underneath. Just a thought.
Good luck. Ken

Good Direction

This sounds like a good direction to head.

Where is it located, and how to adjust.

Thank you all again for your support

Ken

You line up the two lines on the TR sensor while the transmission is in "Neutral".
