1997 Ford F53 Right Blinker Malfunction

Greetings, hoping to get a response from you electrician types. My left blinker works fine but the right blinker and the hazards do not work when I place my headlights on. The bulbs work but not the blinkers nor hazards with the headlights on. They work with headlights off and indications are good when I remove the bulbs from the right. My Pace Arrow has three lights on each side. I'm confident it's not the turn signal relay. I believe it's a ground to the bulb but still I really don't know exactly what to do. Should I test voltage at the black wire? Should I try and repair or replace the black wire? Help!!!

You problem is classic poor ground , find where the black wire is attached to the metal chassis , remove and clean the screw or bolt that attaches the wire to the metal clean the wire end and the metal and secure the wire . you may need to do the same at the rear of the coach .

I know you are right. I went out and cleaned the contacts with no joy. I'm going to replace the suspected Bargman light assemblies because they are in pretty bad shape because the contacts are loose and coming apart. If that doesn't solve the issue, I'm going to find the schematic and try to figure out where that ground wire goes after it disappears into that whole in the back of the RV.

I was faced with a nearly identical problem on my old coach. I made a temporary ground from the back of the taillight assembly to the nearest metal, the hitch mount. The light worked fine on the temporary ground. Since I could not find where the real ground wire was fastened to the frame inside the end cap, I ran a new ground wire from the light fixture to the frame, piggybacking the end of the wire to another grounded wire. Easier than trying to find where the factory might have run the wires.

Sometimes I think these RV factory guys have a competition called “Stump the Owner.”

I was able to find the ground. It was pretty rusty so I replaced the screw. Sand papered the frame and wire brushed where the wire meets the frame. It’s working now!!!

I found the rusty ground and cleaned it up. All good now, thanks.
