I see the problem if that's the highest you can go with the jack try putting some blocks under it to equalize the tank and reposition the jack. If you have any other jack's and can borrow some I'd go with (2) if possible . put them on the outside edges and leave that jack in the middle working all three to keep it level.. hope it helps.

Wow, sounds awful! My motorcycle/ATV jack has had a 500 pound Harley on it most of the time on it for about five years and shows no sign of having any issues. Nothing special, just a Blackjack from WalMart. Sounds like you got a defective one.

Maybe you can get the tank back up with some judicious cribbing. But at least the fuel pump fixed what you were after fixing.

Just out of curiosity, what the weight limit for the jack?

Mine being a somewhat cheaper one is only rated for 1500 pounds. Spendier ones can support more.

I would disconnect the pressure line at the tank.
Hook a rubber fuel line to the to the pressure tap on the tank.
Run the hose to 5 gal fuel containers, (about 7 of them).
Ground pin #6 of the self-test plug.
Turn the key to run position.

After the fuel is pumped lift the tank back up with a floor jack, put the straps in place and dump the fuel back into the tank if the fuel is OK.

I’m thinking I may have to remove the fuel as well.

Thanks, I think this is what I’m going to do. Use my 3 ton car jack to balance the load, put four car jacks underneath and take the broken jack back to harbor freight and get the cheaper one without the upper platforms. I want to try getting it back without draining the tank. If I can’t then I’ll drain it.

1500 lbs. The weight of the tank is way under. This ATV jack from Harbor Freight Is actually the more expensive one but it was one of the upper platforms that broke and took the load off balance. I should have took them off but I thought it would be fine with it on.

Mines is the 1500 pound capacity one from Harbor Freight. It still lifts but one of the upper platforms broke. I’ll use my 3 ton car jack to get the tank level and put it on jack stands, take the jack back and get a new one.

Remove the outlet connection from the fuel filter, put a hose on it and pump the fuel out.

Me, I have a few 2x4's and 4x4's around that I'd use for cribbing. Since cribbing may not be in everyone's everyday vocabulary, using it is how you raise stuff like this without it falling on you. Versus wobbling around on jacks.

Will Drain Fuel

Thanks for all the awesome ideas. I will be using 6, 5 gallon containers and a battery operated fuel transfer pump to remove as much fuel as possible. That should make it much easier to get back into place.

Good to Go!

Thanks for everyone's help. Changed the fuel pump, that got her running. I was able to drain 25 gallons of gas out using a cheap battery operated Tera Pump. I used a combination of a car jack and motorcycle jack to get the tank mounted. Took her for a spin and that 7.5 460 V8 sounded good.

Thanks Again!
