1999 F53 catalytic converter needed?

Someone decided that they wanted my catalytic converter more than me so they cut it off and off of another class C stored in the same lot.



I spoke to the muffler shop that I had some work done on another older, F53 and he ask why I wanted to put a converter back on. They will probably just steal it again.


My real question is , the replacement converters all seem to have a hole for a O2 sensor. I need to look closer but I don't see any wire hanging down where there was one on the original. Did it have a sensor?



If I just have them replace the cat with pipe, will it throw a code that I have to worry about?

My 1999 F53 has only 2 upstream O2 sensors.

There a file in the files section call 1999 obd or something like that. You can look at it and see if the sensor has been deleted.

The cat sensor and down stream O2 sensors have been calibrated out.

Had the same thing happen to my 2000 Roseair. The new converter is a Magniflow 4451300. It came with plugs where the o2 sensors would go. Mine doesn't have sensors in the converter. I decided to have the muffler shop put removable clamps on a straight pipe and the converter. When it's in storage, straight pipe. When it needs a smog check, converter. It doesn't throw codes. More horsepower and better mpg with the straight pipe.

No, none in Ohio

I am pretty sure you only have 2 O2 sensors from factory, nothing downstream of the cat. It will run just fine with no codes until you "get around" to replacing it. Being a 99 it wasn't doing much anymore, except possibly plugging up your exhaust if starting to melt down.
