1999 F53 Intermittent Speedometer

I had several issues that caused the speedo to quit working intermittently.
The speed sensor in the differential was probably original and was pretty crusty looking so I replaced it just 'cuz. The plug for the wiring had the locking clip broken off and the wires that attach to the plug and run to the frame also were in bad shape. These wires move as the differential housing moves so I replaced
them, soldering the connections.
Still had an intermittent speedometer that would cause the transmission to shift
very hard. The dash is on hinges and pivots forward on my unit. I unplugged the wire harness on the lower left side and cleaned the contacts with alcohol and q-tips, then bent the contacts out some with a pick. The harness is stiff so I pulled up a little to give it more slack.
We recently completed a trip from Az. to Michigan and the speedometer worked perfectly. I think the dash issue was the major cause of the problem, the other items were replaced just as maintenance.
