Unhappy 1999 V10 loss power no codes

My 1999 Winebago Adventurer had problems last year with power loss and stalling out. codes came back for O2 sensor. replaced the sensors and made it through rest of last year no more problems. codes reset and never came back. I never ran in hot weather after that though.
This weekend ran 2 hours with no problems. sort of. It stalled out when accelerating a couple times. then around the third hour of the trip, engine stalled and wouldn't start. cranked with foot on throttle and finally fired with big brown cloud of smoke. after the engine cooled for twenty minutes was able to get it to run but no power once transmission in gear. was able to baby it up to 30 MPH to get to a garage. the guy read the codes and none came up. scanner said unable to communicate with vehicle. went further into scan and it says replace computer. does this sound right? or could it be a fuel issue since no codes.

Hmm no codes. Makes it tough.

Two troublesome components on the '99 where I would start looking: Fuel pressure regulator (diaphragm ruptures) and EGR ('99 only). Either could cause some of the symptoms you describe.

Hope the mechanic in Deleware figures it out. If not I will be trouble shooting when I get it back here to NJ. This gives me another place to start looking.

Ford fuel pumps have given a lot of problems in this period.

mechanic put original computer back in. It had a Banks Chip. ran engine for a while and then took it out for two test drives. Came back no codes showing at all. Tested fuel pressure 45 psi. even with a load on it.
