We have a new to us RV and this weekend I was working on changing the 6 pin plug to a standard 7 way to tow our jeep (needs 12V for relays). Anyway i find no 12V battery power in the rear of the chassis on any of the Winnebago harness. I had both a 2002 and 2004 F350 that both had 12V in the rear on the 7 way from the factory and cannot imagine Ford would eliminate a wire in the factory harness. I still need to dig around for the connection from the factory connection but does anyone know if it is indeed in the harness and what color ? I hate to run a single wire from the front but will if needed. I really like keeping as much wiring as close to factory as possible.

I had the same problem and ended up just running a charge line from the house batteries back to the seven pin connector. I installed a circuit breaker at the house battery connection and another at the toad battery connection. Use #10 or #12 wire with 20 or 30 amp breakers respectively. This setup has worked well for years. Good luck on finding a wiring diagram. I don't think they exist for use by the general public.

These are the diagrams for a 2001.. I don't see 12 volts available on any of the trailer fittings.

I just scrolled through the trailer wiring schematic for a 2003 F53 chassis. it does not have a 12v charge line back there, which I agree, is odd. It does have a reverse light signal in that harness which is really nuts!
Reverse wire is Black with light green line, maybe open that at the other end and use that wire so you don't have to run one down the frame?

The wire is there. I think it is blue. If you trace back the wire on the hitch side about 5 feet you will find it in the bundle wrapped up. You will need to run a small length of wire. Up front near the steering column is the wire for brake control. You can add relay or just splice them together.

Was looking for the 12V line not the trailer brake, although if the wire does exist on both ends i guess i can use it, but then can't tow a trailer....

Guess i'll be running a 10 gauge down the frame rail once i get some wire loom.

You can split the wire and add relay for brakes. A lot of options. But that was the only wire I had on my 2003 because I added the 7 pin plug and wireless brakes on dolly. Works great.

You've got 12V at the generator. Granted, it taps the house batteries, but would be a shorter run of wire.

Unlike F350/450/SuperDuty chassis, Ford does not provide a 12V charge line on the F53 platform. That is left up to the "body builder" (i.e., coach manufacturer).

You can dig some information out of the Body Builders Layout Books, but no diagrams for the F53 are there (usually). For them you need the Ford maintenance manual for your year chassis. I have a DVD for mine.

Winnebago has put many of it wiring diagrams on line.

I'd call Winnebago and ask them where the charge line is.

You could also send a private message to Grant Harris (iRV2 user "grtharris"). He's very knowledgeable about Ford and Winnebago Fords in particular. Here's one of his posts that may help you.

kb2ztx, as stated above Ford does not include the 12VDC charge wire on the F53 chassis. Winnebago did not add the charge wire until the 2009 MY. Here is the link to the wiring diagrams for your coach. Look at the Auto Lamps Wiring Diagram which shows the trailer plug.

Thanks I have the hard copy of the manual from Winnebago and went cover to cover also. At this point I am just going to run a new wire from the front so i know its correct. Just was surprised it wasn't done by the factory.
