2003 F53 kingpin tolerance

Hello all,
After replacing wheel bearing and brake/rotors, I noticed some play in the kigpins. Does anyone know the tolerance or wear limits on these? I can only find generic tolerances, nothing specific to a 2003 F53. Thanks.

I think if you can see the movement the bushings need to be replaced. On my 2018 ACE on an F53 chassis. I had to have the bushings replaced in 2022 just after I purchased it with only 3900 miles on the odometer.

Spicer/Eaton / Dana axle maintance book says 15 thousandth movement horizontally in each bushing is max.
It also says over 40 thousandth vertical movement is max.

If you have a lot of vertical movement, the thrust bearing may be failing from lack of lubrication. Too many people lift the tires to grease the king pins.

Ugh.....Well I guess I'll be ordering parts!!! Anyone have shop procedure for doing king pins? Any pointets or what else to check or replace? Suggestions on brand of king pin kit? Wheel bearings, rotors, calipers are new. Nothing like pulling off new parts. Thanks

Haven't done king pins since the 80s but you'll want the correct bushing driver.

Support the axle near the end when driving out the pin. You don't want the axle hanging on the springs, they absorb the hammer blows.

Read the directions.

Luckily the pins came out almost too easy. Light taps with a brass punch.

Does anyone know the specs for shimming kignpin? I assume put the thrust bearing (flat face up so grease can get to it) then put a jack under spindle to take up gap, then measure gap on top and add shim but looking for the gap required? Thanks
