2013 F53 brakes checked at 98,360 miles
Took our Tiffin 35 QBA to a local fleet service shop to have the brakes checked, coolant flushed and replaced. They also changed the spark plugs and checked the coil packs. They also did a throttle body cleaning.
They said the brake pads (front and rear) still had near 75 percent pad.

Not the best ride out there but it’s a stout, low maintenance chassis. Also shows you’re easy on the brakes....

Flushing Brake Fluid
I'm curious if you ever flushed the brake fluid? My F53 owner's manual (2011 Model Year) states to do this every 2 years if the chassis is used in RV service.
Thanks.

Wow I thought we traveled a lot in our 2013 MH @ 53,295.
I have to believe the brakes have been replaced once already.
I have never had brakes ever last that long on any Motor Vehicle.

I replaced the brake fluid at 80,000 miles. At 80,000 I also replaced the tires, drained the transmission fluid and replaced the transmission filter. I also replaced the serpentine belt along with the two idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley.

There you go nice job.
I change out my coolant every 3 yrs. max, Brake fluid every 2 yrs, and a deep throttle body cleaning every 3 years. But that's because I only use top tier fuel. I don't feed our coach cheap junk food fuel.

Ahh, when did a throttle body on a modern fuel injected engine, such as the Ford Triton V10, start metering gasoline?

I changed out our brakes (original) on our 2008 Outlaw (F53 Chassis) at 70,000 miles and they still had about 35% pad left. But I dont like running them any thinner than that.. Plus the pad material gets sketchy when it gets down that thin...
New Tires all the way around as the old ones aged out even though they had like new tread.. 7 years old..
Will do a brake fluid and coolant flush this summer.
Next year it gets the rear end oil and transmission oil changed.

It is not unusual for brakes to last this long in a motor home. Most miles travelled in a motor home are on major highways with seldom hard braking. I did the brakes on my 1998 Pace at 75,000 miles. The pads were in good condition. The calipers were sticking. I replaced the pads because they were 17 years old and were probably getting brittle.

Brake Fluid Flushed
Since we are planning a big trip to CO, I decided to have some nagging maintenance done to the F53 chassis: flush radiator, service transmission, re-pack front wheel bearings, and flush brake fluid. My mechanic who works on my vehicles did all of the above for $800.
To get the front bearings off, the caliper must be removed as well. I asked him to check the front pads and he reported back there was no need to change as there was plenty of life left. He did note there was a lot of rust on the caliper where the pad rides in the caliper. He sanded down and greased the runner where the pad rides on the caliper. It all moves freely now.
FYI the chassis is 2011 and has about 45,000 miles on the clock.
