2014 Ford V10 surging when accelerating.

Hi, i have a 2014 Fleetwood Storm with the Ford V10 and have noticed it surging when i am accelerating. Still plenty of power but makes it harder for the gears to shift. The surging is not random. It happens in even intervals. Any help would be great.

Im picking up and new MAF sensor and already replaced the air filter. Has anyone ever had surging when their TPS went bad?

I would encourage you to not just throw parts at it. A little diagnosis can save lots of parts dollars.

If you have a reason to suspect the MAF sensor, try cleaning it first. CRC makes an excellent MAF spray cleaner.

Have you had it scanned for any codes? Many auto parts stores will scan without charge, hoping you will buy something (like MAF cleaner?)

If codes have not set yet, a fuel pressure test would be in order. Test sets may be borrowed from parts stores or rented from a tool rental.

Knowing your fuel pressure and any codes set, we can help you better.

Please tell us if you have any aftermarket "Tune" or other devices installed.

There was a "non permanent" code for the MAF when i took it to Orielys as well as a fuel pump code. I had a fuel pump fuse blow due to a melted wire but fixed that and reset the computer and the code for the fuel pump went away. Not sure if air in the lines could cause surging but that could have happened when the previous owner took the line off to see if the engine was getting fuel.

Thanks for the info. Many codes have to fail twice to set as a permanent code. This is to allow for a glitch or operator induced code.

I will still recommend cleaning the MAF first. Debris getting past the air cleaner adheres to the heated element of the MAF. Easy to clean with spray and can't hurt it.

Air in the fuel line can definitely cause pulsing. Air is compressible, fuel is not. Air bubbles reaching the injectors result in a lean misfire.

A fuel pressure test will reveal a lot.

I should have mentioned a source for continued air bubbles in fuel delivery. Your fuel pump is in the tank mounted in the fuel delivery module. The pump joins the plumbing with a hose connection within the module. Those are known to split, allowing air in. Fuel pressure numbers reveal a lot.
