Years ago there was a comic strip Lil Abner, a strapping big hillbilly. One of the characters was Joe Btslplk who always had a cloud over his head, always raining. Are you that Joe?

One other time at my shop a Honda turbo, since ours was "hit" it was rejected $1100 core but insurance paid the tab...

2015 F53 Chassis V10 self destructs
There’s no catch to it, they can either use the parts you turn in or they can’t. They shouldn’t have to eat the cost if they have to replace what’s damaged beyond repair.
To keep cost down and to be competitive with other rebuilders they have to assume you have good core castings and certain hard parts. The extra cost to repair a damaged casting or replace a casting, to be fair it’s charged to the person that turned in that casting as an exchange.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg???
The new engine was replaced and I picked it up today. The notes indicate “the internal IMRC had come apart and fallen into the engine”.
Did this cause the damage to the spark plug or did the porcelain from the plug cause the damage to the IMRC valve?
No idea. Don’t care. It’s running great now.
It’s up for sale. If I get my price, great. I’ll downsize. If not I’ll keep it and keep on keeping’ I ‘spose.

The IMRC is basically an electric door in the intake that changes the intake runner length. Maybe a screw on it fell out and got sucked into the cylinder?
So now does this engine have a new warranty or does it go back to the first one Ford sold you?
Hope it sells quick.

Glad you are up and running.
It was the chicken. It broke the egg.

I didn't ask. Most warranties are from the date of the original work. So that is what I would presume. So that would date back to July/August. It's 3 years or 36,000 miles.

That's exactly what they will do, they have no reason to do any more than that.

I had an engine in a ‘98 Ford Explorer replaced under the std powertrain warranty in 1999, and because of the circumstances (long story), the Ford rep approved a free 100,000 mile powertrain warranty to smooth things out with us. So nothing is set in stone. I would push for more warranty, even if planning to sell it.
Computerguy, you went through 100x more expense and frustration than we did. I wish you well.

I am more intrigued by the IMRC Fail.. I think it was mentioned the intake was changed at one point, a good thing but a bad part... The ford System is pretty good and has a few wear issues but the flaps normally stay good unless like any part assembled , something can be bad...
It is funny as I had a Honda with that part acting up after a frt collision, we replaced , and then found a part that controls it, being new had a vacuum issue,..
And in MY BMW quest they use a part called DISA.. a flap that controls the runners, they Fail. they brake over time, they are part of the long term maintence (80-100K replace) URGH.. ,
ANY WAY GLAD IT UP RUNNING, HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!
