2015 F53 Chassis V10 self destructs
2015 F53 Chassis V10 misfiring on a number of cylinders, loss of power, solid engine light then as slowing starts to blink then slow to a5 mph light goes out and still low power and also like a rattling noise (maybe misfiring?). I80 in Nebraska.
Codes:
P0302, 304, 305, 307. 310, U100 and I think some more but that's all my pic captured. All the misfire codes had a "PENDING FAULT" while the U100 and after did not have that so I wonder if those were prior ones? I've never gone in and looked before so not sure.
Awaiting tow but looking for some ideas. I hate having work done 1000's of miles from home in the middle of nowhere by someone I have no history with. So, I'd like to have an idea going in what they should be looking for.
I found some posts on a bad fuel pump, dirty filter, vacuum hoses, coils and wires.
It's been 5 hours waiting for a tow (since 2PM Central). Thanks Saferide. Nothing good to say about them so far. Let's hope they can at least get me out of here before dark.
Thoughts appreciated!

Usual v10 culprit is bad coil pack(s).

The 302 etc codes are for the particular cylinder. So cylinder 2, 4, 5, 7, 10 have misfires. You could try moving the coil packs around, if you suspect them and see if the codes move.

seems like with so many of the same codes, it would be very odd for all of them to have issues. Perhaps something common between all the coil packs, such as a common wire that has been diner for a mouse or a pinched wire?

That would be odd to have that many coil packs fail at one time.

Look for water in the gas.

I finally got towed around 11 last night. 9 hours waiting on I80. Such is life. Tow driver said some rvs he’s towed has been there for a couple days and not many tow companies like towing them.
Anyway, I tried to remove the doghouse to look myself and no go. It’s a 2016 FW Bounder and those stupid screws like the ones they use in the steps. It took me hours to remove the step one 7 years ago and I never put them back. Any tips on removing those doghouse screws?
I’m at the repair place waiting for them to open.
It would be interesting if it were gas. I had filled up earlier in the day and was below half a tank when this occurred. It was a busy station outside Denver. 33000 miles on the odometer if that means anything also.
The rodent thing is interesting. Last week I caught one and only one and haven’t seen any more.

Rodents LOVE ford wire harnesses, depending on the vendor that makes the wires, some wire insulation are soy based ( soy read food).

If all that happened while you were driving it, or, overnight I would def be thinking you got bad gas, or, water in your tank. If you can drain it ( be best) but if you can't do that add some dry gas ( gas line antifreeze ) . I'd add a can for every 10 gallons in the tank. If you see any improvement, it would point you towards bad gas. In my 65 years this has happened to me 3 or 4 times.
When did you get gas last?
within 25 miles?

2015 F53 Chassis V10 misfires
Well, that solves that.
Something failed. Caused catastrophic failure through 5 cyclinders. Manager said possibly a valve failed/stuck and parts then failed along the chain.
New engine is the recommendation as a boroscope shows significant damage.
$18k minimum. 9k for an engine from Jasper (100k warranty) 6.5 labor and the rest misc things like gaskets, intake manifold (I think he said) shop supplies etc.
not many options where I am so not much of a choice. I’ll have to get it done
So much for the V10 Being bulletproof.
Spoke to Ford and they said it out of warranty so basically go pound sand.
So much for my logic going Ford gas V10 and not a diesel for fear of a $10k repair bill
Sometimes life dishes out lemons and it just gets put in your eyes…

Damn. Sorry about your situation. I wonder if they can look deeper into the engine at some point in time to see exactly what happened. There are many V-10's out there including mine. It just isn't right that something like that would happen at 33,000 miles.
Please keep us posted. Jasper engines are suppose to be real good.

They can look further. They think it is bad money spent just for knowing as Ford says it’s out of warranty. I’m not interested in spending money to maybe say Ford is at fault then have to spend time and maybe more money to pursue that route. If someone wants to fund that I can still go forward with replacing it and then they can look into why. But I’m not paying for that extra bit. Just not worth it IMO.
