2021 E-350 Seat-base question
I'm swapping the OEM stock passenger seat base with a swivel base. Does anyone know off-hand how much torq I should apply to the nuts securing the base to the chassis? And those that secure the seat to the swivel base?

No need for a torque wrench for seat bolts? Just tighten them.

If you never " tightened " bolts before, a torque wrench can give you that feel of what tight is on large and small bolts.
To lose or to tight is bad.

Thanks Twinboat - I'm not a mechanic but I know my way basically around tools and seat bases are nothing but steel anchored by 8 heavy duty nuts. I do fall back on tightening till snug and then adding a 1/4 turn and with these big guys under that seat, I'm sure not much would go wrong. But I usually feel this exact way before causing damage, and causing more damage is my forte!

Jeff ; are we related ?
This statement is the reason I own torque wrenches in 3 sizes , 3/8" , 1/2" and 3/4" drive . I spent way too much time extracting broken bolts over the years and now can go from 30 in/lbs. torque to 600 ft/lbs. with confidence .

I removed and replaced the OEM seat base with a really nice swivel base. Took me about 45 minutes total time.

I found as usual, tighten to resistance and then 1/4 turn more. Never fails. I still don’t like metrics or torx. Does that make me old?
