My 97 F53 460 has a slight exhaust leak at the manifold connection to the head which results in a "tic" noise sometimes at lower rpms. I'm told that this is not a problem unless it becomes much worse. It annoys my wife, though, so it seems a good opportunity to upgrade to headers to try to get more power.
We live in the desert so full stainless exhaust (Banks) seems like a waste of money. Also, my stock exhaust plumbing seems to be in pretty good shape (only about 30k miles on it). Are there any other rv specific headers out there cheaper than the Banks?
Thanks in advance for any response. This is a great forum.

You might consider Thorley or Gibson headers, as from what I understand they really wake up a 460 and also make for a cooler running engine.

Even though the rest of your exhaust system is in good shape, I would highly recommend installation of a 3.5" exhaust & tail pipe if your stock ones are smaller.

Also, installation of a low restriction muffler such as Flowmaster, Dynomax or Magnaflow will further enhance engine performance.

Good Luck, Jim

Thanks for the reply Jim.

After researching the options and reading all the forum posts about headers, I decided to go with the Banks Powerpack after all. You can't argue with so many satisfied owners. For instance, Eastfizz is happy with his and he has the exact same coach/chassis as I do.

I ordered them from Banks directly and got a $300 discount just for asking.

You're most welcome, you won't go wrong with the Banks, I have the system on our v10. Banks will make a bigger difference on your 460 that it does on the v10.

Best of luck and safe travels, Jim
