4r100 filter, short pickup vs long pickup

I am going to change the transmission fluid and filter. After removing the existing filter it has the long pickup and the replacement filter I got has a short pickup. Is the short ok to use? Looks like a 4x4 vs 2x4 filters.

Thanks
Eric

You need to have the same filter that came out. You should have removed a YC3Z-7A098-AA filter or need a FT-113 kit for replacement. What you may have is a YC3Z-7A098-BA filter or a FT-114 kit. The short pickup tube will not allow the filter to set in the bottom of the pan and it may fall preventing fluid pickup and transmission failure. I suggest you return the filter and obtain the correct one.

The long neck if for the deep pan than you have. The short neck if for the normal pan.

The "normal" pan was only used with the 4R100 in the Lightning. All other 4R100s used the deep pan.

Mark,

AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care in Rapid City changed my transmission in 2016.

I have now drove 19000 miles with the new transmission so my 18000miles/18months warranty is expired.

QUESTION: When do you suggest me to change the transmission fluid since this is a rebuilt?

BTW: they did not change my transmission cooler, engine radiator nor the hoses since I had changed them 2 months before.

Sorry for the typos. I should have wrote: The long neck IS for the deep pan THAT you have. The short neck IS for the normal pan.

I'd change it at 30,000 miles.
