4R100 Temp Gauge Sender Location?

Is there a port on the 4R100 which I could use as a location for a temperature sender?

Yes, you can use the pressure port on the driver side of the transmission

Just a thought... I've used the TorquePro App on my Samsung Mini-Tablet in my MHs since 2015 (See attached screenshot.) I keep the tablet on the dash (have since adjusted the display to be vertical vs. horizontal) to display detailed data not available on my Ford dash. I've used the same display setup since creating it in 2015. You also need a Bluetooth OBDII dongle to transmit the real-time data to you Android device. The TorquePro app is available in Amazon for less than $5. Might be worth your while to investigate it to see if it might give you what you are looking for. There is quite a lot of info on the web, plus a number of YouTube videos out there showing how others have used the program in their applications.

Thanks to both of you for the assist. Given the weather at the moment I’m not real keen on crawling under the coach but I would like to get the gauge and sender on its way. Can anybody tell me what size that port is on the 4R100? I suspect it’s 1/8” but I’ve been wrong before.

Taking a Quick Look at the app my first question would be does my 2003 V10 have an ECU that can be accessed by Blue Tooth? I know nothing about that subject.

It's a standard test port. Same size they've been using since the 1960's so you should be good.

No, you can't access your ECU by Bluetooth. The old scanners/code readers had to be plugged into the ODB port to connect. Newer versions have "dongles" that plug into the port and then you connect the scanner (your phone, tablet, whatever) to THAT. So you'd need to at least buy a dongle and then get a program for your phone or whatever to talk to it.
Look up "Forscan" and their website. They explain it pretty well and show you exactly what dongles you can choose from if you choose to use their program. (I recommend it.)

I would recommend contacting somebody at Ford, in the engineering dept., they should know where on a Ford engine would be where the ‘ports’ are located. I know on most diesel engines, ie; CAT, Cummins, etc., the oil temp sending unit is usually on the oil pan.

Best place would be where the oil exits the engine before the oil cooler and filter. they may even be an available port there.

Engine oil temp sender location

Here’s another one; where would it be best to install an engine oil temp sender on the V10?

Mike, I’m fine with a hard wired connection for the laptop, in fact I would prefer it. I am much more of a nuts and bolts guy and know virtually nothing about “Codes” or using the diagnostic port so I have to ask everything unfortunately. I have no issue with getting the app and I imagine that if I can’t get it downloaded my wife can. If you could point me at the right cable I “should be” good-to-go.
Thanks, Don

It is a 1/8" NPT dryseal. Dryseal means it does not need any sealant. Sealant can get into the trans and cause a failure. Same for Teflon tape, don't use it.

No, it cannot be accessed by Bluetooth. It can be accessed by Forscan, and I highly recommend it.

For my 2003 F53 V10 with the 4R100 I just use my ScanGauge to measure my trans temp. No need to add anything, just plug into the OBDI port and program what you want to display.

You're missing an "I." It is the OBDII port, OBDI ended in 1996. They are very different.

It is necessary to use an OBDII adapter to connect the OBDII port on the vehicle with your device (laptop, phone, tablet, whatever). The PCM/ECU itself has no BT connectivity with the outside world.

Those adapters can be hard-wired (usually to a USB port), or wireless (BT or WiFi) for the connection to your device and its software (Forscan, Torque Pro, or whatever).
