97' sunsport fuel pump issue
Hello all I'm new and this is a new to me RV. Can someone tell me if I should be hearing the fuel pump turn on at the tank. It will fire up with fuel in the intake. Also is there a fuel shutoff relay?

Welcome to iRV2!
It would help if you could tell us what chassis you have.

Step one is to figure out what you are working on. Diagnostic procedures for diesels versus gasoline, Mercedes versus Chevrolet, etc are pretty different. Plus at some point you may want to look at wiring diagrams or order parts, in which case you need to know exactly what you have, what chassis it's on, and what engine it uses.

Is it a Cummins, Ford or GM engine? That will help determine what chassis.

F35 it has the ford 460. I can hear the fuel pump relay clicking but no hum from the fuel pump when cycling the key.

There are many fuel pump threads scattered about here. Fords in particular seem prone to pump issues when left to sit a long time.
I started a fairly long thread about my 1993 F53's fuel issues. You might find a helpful idea or two in it. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f23/rela...es-508562.html
There are other threads here that might be better but it's really easy for me to find the one I started. One fella here didn't want to pull the tank and tried to change the pump from above and drilled into his water tank. That would be a good advisory thread to find. (I dropped my tank from underneath.)

In my case I've ended up using a $70 Delphi pump (pump only) I looked up at Advance Auto Parts and they had one on the shelf locally. You can look up a 1997 F53 on their site and see if they have something you want.
Other folks prefer to use a complete fuel pump drop in assembly. If/when you can find one the brand is usually genuine Ford/Motorcraft and run about $400. The drop in assembly will have the same above Delphi pump inside it. I found one at RockAuto.com to fit mine but when I went to order it it was out of stock. Later it showed to be back in stock again but I already had bought the 70 dollar one.
Another member here showed a a picture of how nasty and corroded his was. Pretty amazing. He maybe had water in his tank or something, it was bad. He had no choice but to pop for the complete $400 assembly. What he had was not repairable like mine was.

I get that. One of the main results you get is one that looks like a fairly large white plastic can with two wires sticking out the top. I bought one of those years ago and it's still on my shelf. Fits nothing I've ever seen even though it's called to fit a fair number of Ford trucks.
Anyway, the 1997 version of what I bought to fit mine is this one, for one example.

The first one I found that was the entire assembly that looks like it will fit is here. (Their picture is upside down.)

Okay so i installed new fuel pump ran it around for a day about 40 miles and it starts bogging out under hard acceleration. So when I finally got back home I took the dog house off and plugged in a fuel pressure tester at idle it right at about 32 psi and runs good. But when I drive it down the road a could miles the issue comes back and when I try to accelerate up a hill it bog and back fires and I see on the fuel pressure it drops to about 10psi. Things I have done..
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel filter
New fuel
Fuel pump I installed 50 miles ago
