I was probably looking into it when I discovered I didn't have a integral cooler in the radiator , but now that I'm aware of the problem and how to minimize it, it kind of took a back burner.
Basically, watch the transmission temps, and when stopped, at things like traffic lights, don't leave it in "D". slide it into "N" to minimize torque converter slipping.
I also added heat shields in a couple places when I did my headers. These help reduce radiated heat into the cooler lines and the bell housing area where the left pipe crosses under the bellhousing
