Adaptive Cruise Control

Does anyone know of a kit or has anyone been able to install adaptive cruise control on an F53 Chassis? It seems all new vehicles 2013 or newer in the Ford lineup have this feature as an option and would be super helpful on an RV where it allows you to set the distance and speed and stay behind the vehicle in front of you rather than constantly having to put the speed up and down or hit the brake to slow down.

Need a built in radar detector and a computer to operate it, and tie into the brakes and throttle. It couldn't be cheap.

I don't see this as an aftermarket item. I also am surprised that Ford was doing this on widespread F-series trucks in 2013. In 2013, it would have been a luxury item at best I would think.

Toyota had it a couple years earlier.

JMHO: Given the issues that Spartan chassis owners are reporting , I wouldn't have it if they were giving it away .

An after market kit? The business model considering R&D, material, manufacturing and other costs spread out over potential limited sales volume will be a very high cost for the potential buyer. Plus once the lawyers get involved with the potential liability of a system failure,,,. Keep in mind the software and hardware of what you can get from the factory on your daily driver is all proprietary so any developer will be starting from scratch.

Ford might start producing chassis with the capabilities one of these years. Probably the next generation that replaces the current V8 configuration. A 12-15 MPG hybrid would sure be nice. It might be expensive due to lack of production scale for the F53/59 chassis but who knows. More likely to show up on an E series cut-a-way class C first. Same for the hybrid idea.

Ford offers this on the f59 chassis: https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/...-chassis/2020/

So presumably the hardware is available and could be supported - but I doubt anyone's going to figure out the modules and software changes to enable it on the f53 - and certainly Ford isn't going to enable it for you
