And for yet another thing thieves do with stolen catalytic converters...

https://www.autoblog.com/2021/09/28/...ic-converters/

"KINSHASA, Congo — A new craze for a drug derived from crushed vehicle exhaust filters is rattling authorities in Kinshasa, triggering a campaign to stamp out the concoction and a related rash of car part thefts."

"The brown powder is obtained from crushing the ceramic honeycomb core of automotive catalytic converters, the device that cuts the emission of toxic gases in vehicle exhaust pipes.

Mechanics blame rising demand for the drug on a rash of thefts of catalytic converters, which are coated with metals such as platinum, palladium and rhodium."

Hmmm, I wonder whether the use of the drug "bombe" causes the user to have "exhaust" problems or corrects them.

This is some pretty bad news. At least before we had a chance to restrict how the thieves would sell stolen converters. Now thieves can cut out the middleman. You don't need to steal to get money to buy drugs when you can just steal the drugs directly. If this crap is true, they're going to get wind of it and then NOBODY is going to have a catalytic converter on their car.
